Kangeiko 2008

Every year since our inception in 1993, a week of special winter training (Kangeiko) takes place at the Edmonton JKA.

The purpose of Kangeiko is to start the New Year with a high level of effort, which will be carried on for the rest of the year. To achieve this goal, the training is more intensive than in regular classes.

Winter training is a traditional way for martial artists to hone their fighting spirit, by purifying the mind and overcoming hardship. In Japan, this may involve outdoor training or opening the windows during class (both of which are impractical in Edmonton).

Kangeiko will be held the week of Jan. 7 - 11 with training on Sat. the 12th to be announced. We will be having a wrap up dinner, everyone is welcome training or not - time and place to be announced after Tues. the 16th.

All CJKF / JKA members and invited guests are welcome to attend.

** During Kangeiko week, there will be regular evening classes as part of the kangeiko training to ensure those who can not make morning classes can still train.

All training takes place in Edmonton, at the Downtown YMCA, 10211 - 102 Avenue. Indoor parking available at the downtown YMCA. LRT access via Churchill station (proceed West).
